EMT ASSOCIATES, INC. Extensive training and technical assistance capabilities… EMT has a large portfolio of training and technical assistance (TA) projects at the federal (U.S. Department of Education), state and local level. We have recently initiated self-paced, web-based training courses through the EMT Online University. Our training success is motivated by several principles. First, we believe that training and TA must be delivered in a variety of formats that meet the particular needs and preferences of different learning communities. One size does not fit all. We utilize a variety of in-person group delivery, web-cast and remote video, personal PC delivery using broadcast technology, print and electronic media (e.g., the electronic newsletter Prevention Tactics), and individual web-based technologies. Second, we emphasize skills training that puts theory and evidence-based practice into concrete settings and actions. Third, we utilize a combination of proactive training and TA that disseminates important new core skills and principles of effective practice, and responsive training and TA that meets the specific needs of particular clients. These responsive services must be sensitive to cultural, resource, community and organizational contexts of the recipient. By consistently keeping fundamental principles of effective training and TA at the forefront of our services, we have achieved a strong track record of useful training and TA services.
